Top 3 Gadgets Joe Can't Go Without

Working from home has been a challenging in some ways but overall, I believe it has made us more efficient in our processes.

This isn’t a gadget, but I want to put Microsoft Teams in here as it’s an important tool for my day-to-day work.  Being forced to run meetings & collaborate on documents virtually is something we haven’t really been doing prior to this pandemic, but I believe we are now more structured & more organised in the way we use our working week.  The ability to discuss issues by screen-sharing is arguably easier than being in the office where we would need to all be huddled around the one small screen.

My first two gadgets are my docking station & external monitors. When in our Chadstone based co-working space, I mainly worked off my laptop screen which not only meant I could only see one document at a time, but also wasn’t great for my posture, meaning I was often having neck pains from staring down at the screen.  Connecting to an external monitor & the use of a proper office chair as opposed to a stool has meant I no longer need to look down, but rather straight ahead allowing my back and neck to be better supported.  I have now purchased a docking station, meaning I can plug in two external monitors allowing me to view multiple windows at once, adding to my efficiency.

My third must have gadget are definitely my Apple Airpods.  In my opinion they are essential in our line of work.  Troubleshooting an issue with a client on the phone is difficult when one of your hands is holding the phone.  You really need both hands free to control the clients remote machine or the systems we use in house.  I will also use my Airpods on Team Meeting calls to ensure the sound quality for my colleagues is clear.
